Is Your Retirement Plan Keeping Up with Operational and Business Changes?

A retirement plan document establishes the provisions that govern how the plan operates. But business objectives change—and sometimes day-to-day operational practices change with them.

New compensation practices, organizational changes, adjustments to employer contributions, or other operational decisions can affect retirement plan administration. When actual operations no longer align with governing plan documents, compliance issues can follow along with costly penalties.

It’s never too early to review your plan. We highly recommend our clients review their plans before the end of this year to identify operational or business changes that may affect the plan—and to determine whether documentation or other administrative action is required.

Not every business change follows the same deadline or amendment rules, making early review especially important. A plan that is centered around your business vision and objectives,  also helps employees build long-term security, which is what makes a retirement plan worth offering in the first place.

Benefit Equity, a Strongpoint Partner, helps employers evaluate retirement plan provisions, prepare required plan documents and amendments, and support consistent ongoing administration.
