Year-End Changes Start with Asking the Right Questions
A retirement plan does not operate in a vacuum from your sponsorship of a retirement plan.
Changes in your ownership, corporate structure, workforce composition, or compensation practices may have implications for plan design, administration, or compliance.
That is why employers are wise to communicate significant business changes to their retirement plan administrator early rather than waiting for annual testing or reporting to reveal an issue.
It’s important to consider what may have changed during 2026. Did your company add or acquire an entity? Did ownership change? Did your workforce expand significantly? Were compensation practices revised? Are you considering a business transaction?
Exploring these types of questions can help identify administrative or plan-document questions while there is still time to address them…and save compliance headaches and penalties down the road.
Benefit Equity, a Strongpoint Partner, collaborates with employers and their wealth advisors to evaluate how business changes may affect retirement plan design and ongoing administration.
